A Birthday

"I mean, what is an un-birthday present?"

"A present given when it isn't your birthday, of course."

Alice considered a little. "I like birthday presents best," she said at last.

"You don't know what you're talking about!" cried Humpty Dumpty. "How many days are there in a year?"

"Three hundred and sixty-five," said Alice.

"And how many birthdays have you?"

"One."

It's my birthday. The big question is, how will I spend it? My husband has planned a surprise. He says it will take all day -- I should clear the calendar. The evening before, he told me he has to get to bed early, because he has a big day ahead of him.

This made me nervous.

If he has a big day ahead of him, then what will it be like for me? I mentioned (just casually, of course) that I am not sure what I should wear.

"Casual."

Do you know how many settings "casual" includes?

Let me tell you, hundreds.

Can you tell I'm a structured planner? No, wait, don't answer that.

I think I am going to take layers and three kinds of shoes. Maybe pack a bag. For my birthday.

Right now, I am deciding whether I will eat cake. It's not good for me. I almost never eat it now. I'm on a low-fat vegetarian diet to protect myself from the heart disease in my family history. But I love cake. The question of the day is: Should I eat it? Will I eat it? What kind will I eat?

Some of my favorites include:

Coconut cake
Chocolate cake
Carrot cake
Wedding cake
Red Velvet cake
Lemon cake
White Chocolate cake
Pineapple upside-down cake

What do you think will happen?

Check back tomorrow to find out!

  6. Happy Birthday! Can I tell you a secret? I HATE suprises. So much so that I am getting upset for you as I read this post! If my husband did this, I would either demand he tell me, or refuse to go :) I pray you do like suprises, and that you have fun on yours :) I can't wait to read about how your day is tomorrow!
