Up Close and Personal

Friendship is born
at that moment

when one person says to another,

"What! You too?
I thought I was the only one.”

- C.S. Lewis

You are the reason that Apple Pie was created. Your lives of devotion to your families inspire me every day to tell you stories and give you tips on how to homeschool with excellence. The vision for this blog grew out of two decades of ministry to moms just like you.

Since Apple Pie started in April, the reader base is growing by leaps and bounds. This thrills me. I want to help as many moms as I can.

I have just one problem: I don't know who most of you are. I'd like to pray for you by name, but I don't know your names. I'd love to have each one of you sign up as a "Follower," so that I can know who you are, so that I can learn more about you, so that I can pray for you specifically, and write with you in mind. As we begin to know one another, we can become a community.

Your comments help guide my writing. Did you know that? I want this spot in the cyber world to be one where we can have rich conversations about the challenging job of raising a family and teaching our own. I have my ears open. I listen to you. I ponder what you say. Your voice is heard here.

And today is your special day! It's devoted to you and all the work you do.

Please leave a comment to tell me how you are doing with school and life. You can ask me a question. You can also ask me to pray for you. I'd love to.

Please, if you're a returning visitor, let me encourage you to sign up to be a "Follower" -- so I know who you are, so I can pray for you by name, so I can see your face and write for you. Becoming a "Follower" is easy. Just go to my side bar, click on the "Follower button," and fill in your name.

If you are just visiting today, or if you aren't ready to do any of this, that's fine! I want you to know that you are welcome. I'm glad you're here. Feel free to browse around a bit.

  1. Good morning! I am a grandmother of six, five of which are homeschooled. My daughter is not only a blessing to me but also to her children as their teacher. She is amazing and I am priviledged to be her mother! She also blogs at www.hodgepodge.me, check her out! I love your blog and look forward to it each day and also follow you on Moon Boat Cafe! Thank you again for your ministry and gentle thoughts!

  2. Although I already follow Apple Pie, I would never pass up the opportunity to be prayed for!
So thank you Cassandra...my family would be most appreciative if you would remember us in your prayers! We are meeting the challenges of having six students in different grade levels this year...with two Littles trying hard to join the Fold! Your writings bring encouragement and inspiration to us along the journey...THANK YOU!
