Down Time

I was not well this weekend and spent three days in an easy chair with blanket, tea, and books. It wasn't difficult. As long as I did nothing but rest, I felt okay -- just tired.

I'm beginning to feel like my old self again. Taking a long weekend to think was really good for me.

I recommend it.

Once your school is back to some semblance of your normal, try taking a weekend just to think and plan. You'll be glad you did.

While I didn't always accomplish everything I dreamed of, thinking it through and setting down plans meant that we did more than we would have otherwise.

In the words of hockey star Wayne Gretsky, " You miss 100% of the shots you never take."

What's one "shot" you plan to take in 2010? What's one thing you hope to do? How do you plan to make it happen?

  1. I know this is completely pedestrian and not at all homeschool-oriented, but...I'm going to lose those 20 pounds, once and for all. After DS1 was born, it was 10 pounds. After DD, it was 15. After DS2, it was...you get the idea. I'm going to be 45 in May, and five months will allow for a slow, steady loss if I can give this birthday gift to myself.

I've been planning like crazy. I've wasted almost eight years on dieting half-heartedly...some days I'd start with one diet and switch to a new one by noon (and end the day with a hot fudge sundae). I need a lot of structure to make this happen. So far--meaning the past two days!--so good.

  2. Way to go, Kathi! I wish you great success on this!

I am trying to make some personal changes myself. Just continuing to work on my health and fitness -- it's a long-term project for me.
